The couple saying vows to one another is an essential part of a wedding. In Catholic churches, the husband and wife make a life promise to the other by saying:
“I, ____, take you, ____, to be my lawfully wedded (husband/wife), to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death does us part.”
It is one serious matter since these vows tie a knot between two distinct individuals who decide to spend the rest of their lives together but, even in such like somber situations, some blunders may occur. No matter how serious the scenario may be, there come such unavoidable and instinctive moments in life which may turn out to be either worse for someone, or most overwhelming and memorable for others. The best we can do is embrace what comes to us, with open arms and learn to live with it!
One of such ‘blooper’ happened at a wedding when the groom’s tongue slipped while saying out the vows and it ended up being one heck of a funny wedding!
As the groom, Andrew took the bride, Melissa Engstrom’s hand to repeat his vows after the pastor, in order to solemnly take his vows, instead of saying the word “lawfully”, her accidently said ‘waffle-y’. This made Melissa laugh out hysterically, so hard and for such long time that this blooper made that day ‘happiest day of her life’. She even gestured eating pancakes upon Andrew’s calling her ‘pancake-y‘.
He then said:
“I’ve been scared of this all my life”
Upon this, Melissa’s burst into a whooping chortle. The priest then exclaimed:
“It’s okay folks, I’ve seen this before”
Thankfully the wedding blooper got captured on video and got posted on the internet, where it got viral and even after 7 years, it is being watched and shared immensely on the social media. It even got a place in ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’.
After receiving so much attention, Good Morning America interviewed the couple. Here is coverage of the conversation with the couple explaining how it happened.
This video-clip of the Andrew with Melissa Engstrom wedding reemerged this year too. While on YouTube, Larry McDonough- the videographer of the event told the world through his comment about the birth of the couple’s first child.
He even told about how much this video has been watched (that is till 2015. WOW!)
The viewers on Youtube also love it, and the response is prodigious.
One of the viewer comments:
“Wow, looking at the original video I thought it’s a 1990’s TV rip of America’s Funniest Home Video…”
After watching the video, I bet you’d pray for such happy blunders to happen on your special day too, to make the event more wholesome and memorable so that when you look back one day on these unforgettable commemorations, the love and happiness reignites in your relationship and you get to live your Whaffly-cupcakey dream life! We wish you the BEST OF LUCK!
